PRIMARY / KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
Our Montessori Primary/Kindergarten Program for three- to six‑year‑olds at Academy of the Winds is thoughtfully crafted to nurture the whole child—socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically—within a carefully structured environment.
In our prepared classroom, students enjoy remarkable independence as they select developmentally appropriate materials that guide them from concrete exploration to abstract understanding; this independence always unfolds within clear, consistent routines and boundaries. Academic concepts in language arts, math, and cultural studies are reinforced through one‑on‑one lessons with the teacher, ensuring each child receives individualized guidance at just the right moment.
Practical life exercises—folding, pouring, sorting, sweeping, cleaning, and washing dishes—help young learners refine coordination, build concentration, and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Supported by the stability of the three‑year cycle, younger children observe and learn from older peers while those completing the cycle deepen their mastery and leadership by mentoring others. Weekly art and music experiences further enrich their day, fostering creativity, fine‑motor skills, and self‑expression.
By weaving freedom within well‑defined limits, deliberate teacher guidance, and opportunities for collaboration and community responsibility into each moment, we graduate our Primary learners as curious, confident, and compassionate individuals prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
