The mission of Academy of the Winds is to create an academically rigorous, hands-on learning environment rooted in Montessori Methods, that engages each student’s unique abilities, develops creative critical thinking skills, and cultivates compassionate, active citizens.
We are two very passionate educators opening a school in the Fall of 2019. This school will operate as a non-profit, private institution, offering services to ages 3-9 (Preschool-3 grade) in Fremont County. It will bring a much-needed educational option to our community.
We will be primarily based in the Montessori method of education, integrating cutting-edge educational methods to meet the needs of our students. The school will be rigorous, hands-on, and driven by students needs.
Jenny Schucker holds a BA in Elementary Education, a Wyoming Teacher Certification, National Board Certification, and NAMC Montessori Certification. With nine years of classroom experience in Wyoming schools, she retired from full-time teaching when she had her daughter, although she has worked as a substitute on some occasions in Lander. While being a full-time mom is rewarding, Jenny decided that pursuing her dream of establishing a private school would allow her the best of both worlds and would permit her to share her love of learning with a focused group of children and their families.
Cambrya Tafelmeyer holds a BA in elementary education and has 4+ years of teaching in the classroom. In the public school setting, Cambrya strove to spark interest in young minds and differentiate her instruction in a meaningful way to reach all learners. Since being a mom, she has continued to seek ways to encourage curiosity in her own children. This led her to Montessori Philosophy. Cambrya is eager to pursue this hands-on approach to education with the opening of Academy of the Winds.
